This video probably broke my brain a little. Just so you know. It's my love for Due South right there, encapsulated in four minutes, and it's the first of TWO Due South videos that I've been working on, if you can believe my brain has allowed that. And by allowed, I remind you, it's broken now. Never to be the same.

Wow. I'm so moronic about why I love vids - I only know that I love yours, and I love this one. I suppose one of the things I *know* I like about it is that you use images I don't usually see in F/K vids and make them work with the music and the vision of Ray you give us, which has that poignant quality that the best of the series gave us. Just - wow. Wonderful.

You are NOT moronic. That's a wonderful comment! ::hugs:: Thank you.

Given that I know ab-so-lutely nothing about this fandom, should I download this one? You know I love your vids SO much, but I fear that everything will fly right over my head if I'm not careful. I guess what I'm trying to ask is, is it context-heavy? Can a non-fandom person still catch onto something if not everything?

I have no idea if I'm an accurate judge, even if it's my own vid. I know that I try to make my vids as open to the widest audience possible, but I don't know about this one. It's very... character focused. When I think about it, it's kinda my love song to one of my favorite shows/relationships ever, and I know for a fact that there ARE some context-necessary shots that may or may not be made clear by everything else. I really wouldn't blame you if you didn't download. :) Especially since it's a longer vid, and who would want to be subjected to a long vid that makes no sense to them? I do not count, because I am just WEIRD about vids. I download fricken everything now. I'm a freak.

I did end up downloading it, because I don't think I'm physically capable of not watching a new vid of yours, and as expected I was like "huh?" all the way through as regards content. From a tech point of view, though, it was very well edited (not that I'd expect anything else from you) and I especially liked the use of stills. The movement also was a highlight for me - it's so fluid and just extremely well-placed.

The shot at 1:35 I really liked in particular. The fire shot at 2:25 reminded me of that moment in Queer, and the whole "flame on the beat" thing just always gets to me. (In a good way, obviously! :D ) From 3:39 onwards, when the vocals scale that peak, it's just non-stop chills, especially when the cutting starts going all frantic, and I don't even have a clue what's going on! So much kudos for that.

I haven't seen it yet, but I will... I've never actually seen this show... Well, I saw the last few minutes of one episode a little bit ago when I was waiting for something else to come on.

I still think it's funny to see that one guy because he was on Battlestar Galactica for a couple eps.

I'll watch the vid as soon as I get back on the main computer. My sister won't be happy if I start downloading a bunch of vids on her computer :P

Hee! Nah, she'd probably not be too happy. :D

And how true is that. Callum IS RayK to me, so seeing him on anything else, even if he's such a wonderful actor, is always vaguely unsettling.

... You know, I completely forgot about this vid. I'm so sorry! I should have watched it when I said I would.

Great vid. Your vid and some icons I saw earlier (yes, slashy ones) have kind of convinced me to watch this show lol.

oh, dude, its WONDERFUL! wow! I'll send beter fb later, but in the meantime you should make sure to post to [info]ds_noticeboard to make sure everyone sees it!

awesome work!

Thank you. *g* Also, thanks for the reminder. I'm so flighty lately.

hi. hi. this is amazing. You blew me away. just - you get their physicality down so well, SHOW it to us so well in the vid. ALL of it, every bit, just so - details their characters and their relationship for me. And my god, what you did here with the punches is just - astoundingly amazing. Dude. You rock.

THANK you. This video really cost me a few strands of hair or more while I was making it, so I'm glad someone is getting enjoyment out of it. :D

Fabella,

Your brain made its sacrifice in service of great ART...hope there's comfort in that. :) "Duet" is just amazing. I am floored. The choice of scenes & images, the flashes in between...it's vidding at a new level. I love how you used so many bits that we never see in vids. Really stunning choices, and the way you intercut them is just so cool. And the song choice? God, you had me from the first line..."You've got such a pretty smile/ It's a shame the things you hide behind it" just sent a shiver up my spine. It's a very profound and complex interpretation of RayK. Oh, and "I know the feeling of alone"? Broke my heart.

I'm just wowed by some of the newer vids, especially yours. I think you have a real gift. I'm going to have to watch this again--maybe several times (like that's a hardship? LOL)--before I can give more coherent feedback. Or maybe the vid broke my brain, too? Don't know.

Anyway, it's great, and thank you so much for sharing it with us!!

This is amazing! It's so moving, definitely one of the best due South vids I've seen. I loved the footage you used, and the pacing, the flashes and the blurring and the color draining (er, well, whatever the word for that would be), all those artistic touches were so very neat. And it's just SO Fraser/RayK, it fits them perfectly. Thank you!

Wow. This vid utterly, utterly blew me away. It's just. Wow. *makes an attempt to be coherent* You really really captured *them* - okay, screw coherency, this is just really really good. *nods*

thats one seriously fantastic vid, I totally love it..please do more F/K.

thank you!

WOW! That was a great vid!

I love vids and grab all I can. This one was wonderful.

Your imagery, the scenery shots you used, the scenes you picked. It all synced with the music so fabulously.

Your effort is appreciated greatly. I'm so glad you made it and posted it at the noticboard. Please make more!

Ooooh... oh, Ray *sniffles* It's sad, I wish I had more context but I only saw a handful of the RayK episodes. This tells me, of course, I need to go get them ALL so I can see this myself. 'Cause. What little I know, oh man, OTP all over the place and... and Ray. Someone above mentioned the physicality of him and he's so frantic and it hurts my heart.

Oh good lord do I love this video. I just...gah...I don't think there is anything I can say just at this moment to do it justice. I have an undeniable soft spot for RayK and this video just captured everything so perfectly. Thank you for posting it!

I just LOVE your vid. It's awesome. :D

I love this- the way you edit, your choice of clips. I always like your vids. (and my friend is drooling over this one next to me as I type :) ) Thanks for sharing your brain with all of us!

I really liked this. I'm never good at pointing out what I liked, but I loved this! There is just so much... movement in it. And RayK and his sheer... physicality is highlighted, and the PUNCHES! Oh my god, what you did with the punches almost killed me DED! It's just that the details, the clips choices, the way everything just FLOWS from one scene to the next... it captures the essence of what I love about the RayK/Fraser relationship. I love the stills and the flashes, and esp the way the shots echo- RayK and Fraser walking in one clip, and then in another, and Fraser reaching out to RayK, helping him up, one way or another.

My fav moments: THE PUNCHES! The punches, one, then the other, and the RayK walking away, once, twice, three times, and then Fraser going after him. And I loved that you used the boxing stuff. Because boxing might be the perfect metaphor for their relationship- the push/pull, and one of them hurting the other, and they pull away, but they always come back together. Their relationship, slash or otherwise, is like a dance, like boxing in a two-step. And RayK is the one that's moving, always moving and checking and struggling, and Fraser is just.. still. Until he isn't. And, boy, that sounded moronic, huh? ::moves on:: Okay, the line "feeling of alone" laid over watching Bob and Caroline walk into the light... I am DED I tell you, DED. There are just so many wonderful moments and clips that know there is no way I could pick one!

THANK YOU. I feel like I just got the bestest present EVER. You rock. ::goes to watch it again::

Hello. I just wanted to say this video was gorgeous. It just put the biggest smile on my face and to be honest watching this vid made me feel like I had a crush again :D It was weird. I love Due South and Callum and Paul and it reminded me that I'd like to see Wilby Wonderful again. Have you seen it?

I've just started watching Due South (the 3rd season) and i 'blame' the fandom (fanfiction and vids like yours) entirely for getting me hooked up to the show.
I loved your video, it was beautifully made. The song you chose went so well with the scenes, and the lyrics were very fitting. I also liked the blurs and flashes (i don't know the proper terms...) especially when Ray sits on a chair outside an office (3:09) and in the punching sequence (1:23). Now i can't wait to watch the rest of the show!

OMG PRETTY. Love the internal motion and the blurring and the brightness and the conceptual as well as graphic matches and yay.

This was superb. Brilliant song - god, ever since I downloaded this vid a couple of weeks ago, I've been listening to Jude on repeat, so thank you! - excellent and original method of seaguing the clips with the, er, flashy thing (I'm just so up to date on my technical terms...).

Really well executed. Thanks; it's a keeper! :)

oh Ray. oh *Ray*.

This is the Ray I see in the show, twitchy and edgy and britle and fierce in his love. Your video was all that too. Beautiful.

Very nice vid. It covers a lot of ground in Fraser's life, but I think it does a good job.

this vid was shown to me by my sister, so i had to google for your LJ username before i found this page.. i had always heard about the dS "slashy goodness" before but never thought about diving into it. this vid is the Sole Reason i'm madly deeply in love with due South right now; i wouldn't have fallen if not for the wonderfulness that your vidding encapsulated.
after i've seen the episodes, i now know how awesome this vid is, really - the perfect song choice with the superb editing brought out so much deeper emotion than what was just in the original footage. and my sister really loved the white-outs near the end, where she felt like the viewer was flying also..
thank you so much for sharing this beautiful piece of art!

Oh, yay! This video was of the awesome :) A beautiful song and I loved the mix and editing of Frasier and Ray. It brought me back to why I loved those two together so much (gen and slash). Thank you!

I'm sort of vid-stupid, so please pardon me if I lack the vocabulary for educated feedback.

F/K is the OTP of my heart, and I loved this vid so very much. It's an insightful look at RayK that first broke my heart in beautiful ways and then filled and healed it and left me filled with love. I will keep it and watch it again, many times.

i just discovered this vid (yes, i know, i'm slow!), and i wanted to let you know how much i enjoyed it. it is very effective as a beautiful, bittersweet love letter from fraser to ray. i love how it portrays ray's sadnesses and weaknesses, and then, through the lyrics, acceptance of him from fraser. and the scenes you chose were very unusual for dS vids (a lot of them), and they fit the music perfectly. i also love what you did with effects and intercutting. in fact, it's just all great. thanks for making it.

Absolutlely loved this vid! I think it's my new favorite Ray-centered vid.

Edit: Upon looking at your journal a bit, I'd like to friend you, if that's all right with you. I promise I'm not the bad kind of crazy; I stumbled upon your vid out of nowhere, saw you loved SPN, and since I've been trying to find new friends who love SPN and at least know what Due South is, you were almost too perfect to pass up. :D

Oh my god. Theirloveissocannon. I loved the use of blurring and the scene selection (you had several that aren't commonly used in vids and they work *great*). Also? Now that you've reminded me of my total love for RayK I need to go rewatch every episode of S3-S4 ever. Seriously.
