So if Jared/Jensen is the story then to me Chad is Jared's back story. I *like* back story.

So when [info]obsessive24 said documentary about You're My Baby, I said ooooh. And then I did this, though I was briefly turned into a wedding party pod person not allowed near her computer. Also, I'm sure Nicky would feel stymied by her part in this, but you know, the power of suggestion, so really, blame her.

It's interesting to note that the reason I tried to vid RPS in the first place was a) to see if I could and b) to let off some steam. And then I had to go and get serious about it. I'm not sure how well this translates beyond my brain, but it was something I needed to do, if just to say that I'm not afraid to experiment. I totally am.

Chad and Jared, while real people, are completely beyond the bounds of even Alternate Universe here. They are merely actors in my evil little play. I was going to have it be more focused on reality (or a reality where they get it on, then Jared does Supernatural, and then Jared does Jensen, and Chad is sad, which is NOT reality), but then I just went completely control crazy and had to make it utterly the world from my head, which might be why it is so emo.

I'm not going to say what the story here is, because the time-line is there, and you can take from that what you will, and I'd rather you get whatever you want from this without me taking it away from you. The only thing I will say is that it's been a year since Jared left to the day Chad gives him this tape, if that isn't already made clear by the time-line. I'd kind of really like to read tons of Chad/Jared fic right now, but so far I've only discovered a few. What IS that? Oh, wait, yeah, this pairing is utterly from my head. I guess it makes sense that there isn't a huge archive full of stories written about them. I totally screwed myself by making this video, right? Because I *made myself* love them. If someone wrote the quintessential Chad/Jared epic, I would make another video about them. Promise. Probably. Or I could just give you my first born child, because that might be easier. It's HARD to vid RPS. Why do people do this to themselves?

I did a lot of things with this video that I'd never done before. It's a video that's very 'from scratch'. I'm proud of it on one hand and terrified of the reaction to it in another. It's 'Mayhem Murray', it's RPS, it's bad characterization, it's popular music, it's way imperfect in many eye-wincing ways that my software wouldn't let me FIX, dammit, it's iffy source, it's AU, it's emo, it's... the list goes on. It's like... a bad!vid taken too seriously is what it is. BUT I DON'T CARE, I LOVE IT, SHUT UP. <---not defensive in the least

Final note: I was very tempted to warn for Paris Hilton. But I actually want someone to watch this at some point.

This is my last RPS vid for a while. I did what I came to do. I'm ready to tackle the monster that is finding the right song for my Firefly vid and suffocating myself with The Big Emotion and nausea-cam. Or maybe taking on Due South again to see if I can get it right this time. I'm not sure yet. There's still that The L Word vid molding on my HD, wanting love. I need to finish replacing the source to The Boy Was A Puppet for Bascon with better quality source. I'm remaking Freak. You see why I needed a break here?

I'm always a little wary of RPS vids because it seems like a lack of footage leads to them, more often than not, being little more than celebrity montages with no real theme, but this was completely different. I thought the format and the use of dates gave it a real documentary feel, and made it easy to follow, like I was watching a chronology of their breakup on E! True Hollywood Story, or something, although that show has it even easier because they can use narration.

In short, I thought it was kinda brilliant.

I've watched it three times so far, and each time I get a little more out of it. I love the documentary concept and adding the different dates helps to really paint this four-year relationship and bring us into the present in a way that's fascinating and heartbreaking.

I'll have to watch a few mores times and put together more extensive feedback, but please know that I absolutely adore the work and imagination here. Thank you for sharing this vid. It's so, so amazing.

I don't even know where it CAME from. I read the word 'documentary' and immediately I was throwing down notes about how Chad and Jared had this really awesome, comfortable relationship, and Chad totally fucked it up, and wants to make this big grand gesture, and records who he is without Jared and... yeah. Ow. The idea hurt me so I obviously had to inflict it on everyone else.

Aw, Chad. I'm so sad for you. I bet you just wish that you could be young and free again on the Gilmore Girls set "practicing lines" and dodging rumors with Jared. I know. I know it's hard. Be strong. What? NO, CHAD. NO. Getting back together with your beard/wife is NOT A GOOD IDEA. He'll come back! I promise! Or... Wow. I love J2, but I've never been interested in Mayhem, probably wouldn't even know who he is lest it was for Jared. However, you truly made me feel for the guy and care about him. The vid was very stylish and it was quite thrlling how the art "bled" into reality. As I watched I completely fiorgot that things may not have happened the way the story tells. ;) Great work!

I don't really know anything about technical stuffs, but I loved those TV screen setting thingies or whatever you'd describe it like. Really... arty, really cool. Actually you did a freakin good job with that software of yours - no eye-wincing on my part, and I'm very prone to that (even if I don't get the technical details, I like to think I have kind of an eye for stuff like that). Also love the song, don't care for mainstream or not, whatever. It fits.

I'm not a total RPS fangirl, but it's okay by me - I see the pretty and I take it as fiction, and there's that...and I'm just know learning to know all the Mayhem references and the Jsquared etc etc...this is to say, I don't have bias in one way or another...
i utterly admire this songvid. It's experimental, as you say, but damn, it is in a such a good way. More like a short film, than a song vid.

It's honestly one of the most interesting and original vids I've ever seen. I wouldn't have the first clue how to do half of the effects you used in this video.

He totally IS a giant douchebag. And he's UTTERLY UTTERLY human. Which is the reason he's won me over. He's not polished up pretty. He's pretty much just a big geek having a hard time interacting WITH EVERYONE. There's this clip where he literally never stops talking about the BIG GAY he has with Jared and Jared, you know, who is never shy, is way uncomfortable and wants to die. It's like Chad cannot stop his mouth from moving. Does he not know this is how fangirls notice patterns? I'd be hardpressed to believe he isn't a dysfunctional bisexual, at the very least, and that's nothing even to do with RPS.

This is really awesome. I'm not a vidder, but I have this dream of doing an RPS vid for one of my WIPs. You've sort of inspired me to get my ass in gear and learn how to do this so I can make my mental picture a reality.

Gorgeous shots. I love the zoon and the images on tvs and monitors. And the black and white works really well. Nice vid.

Wow. This was really cool. I loved the opening, and the constant use of the televisions and the screens, and the parallel shape of the 'come back' signs to the video. The black and white was really nice too, and despite your problems with sorce it looks pretty good, and didn't distract me at all. Also, word to the emo-ness - I couldn't help feeling sorry for CMM even though I think he's a dick. :) The photos worked really well too. I did find keeping track of the dates tricky, with reading the text and interpreting it into day/month/year from month/day/year etc, and following it all, but that does give something fun for rewatches. I did like the emo text at the end too. Oh, poor woobie. I thought this was so cool I showed it to my sister, who is not an RPS fan, and she was able to follow it and liked it too.
